I remember
when the
electricity
went out in
our house,
and the only candles
my mom
could find
were
birthday candles.
***
But each time
she would light
a birthday candle,
one of us
would make
a wish and blow it out.
***
Of course,
our mom got angry
so, she told us to
do something
else, instead.
***
Like, perhaps, sing a song,
***
So, together we
all sang
“happy birthday”
to the dark
Beautiful.

If you wished for the electricity bill to be paid, did your wish come true (eventually)?

Logical, but, no, I think I wished for a train set

Nicely done Mr Tref, very nicely done.

A train set has always been one of those things I planned on one day seriously getting into. But I need a basement! And a train set! And miniature people to stand at the crossing and wave at the train as it goes by

These elements do sound quite essential!

There was a time that this happened to me. It was winter, and me and my kids had to huddle in front of a fireplace.

Actually, that seems rather nice.

Because you seem to be on a (hopefully temporary) break, tref, I was forced to return and enjoy this fabulous post again.

Hilarious and now that scene is going to be stuck in my mind for a while. I can clearly see both the children’s and the mother’s reaction to this. Funny stuff, my friend!!

Hilarious! I wrote more in my last reply but then wordpress made me log in and now it’s floating around cyberspace only to attach itself to some random post and totally confuse those who read it.
