I remember
our old baby-sitter, she
was a born again Christian,
but also a big old movie fan.
***
She’d let us
stay up late watching the
old, black & white comedies
on the UHF channels.
***
Movies starring people like
Eddie Cantor, W.C. Fields
and
Olsen and Johnson
***
And some-times
while watching the films
she would become wistful
to the passage of time
***
And she’d say,
“Do you see all the people
on the screen?
They’re all burning in hell.”
yikes!

That turned dark quickly. Straight to the point.

And the sad thing is that they’re burning in black and white hell. Moreover, the devil himself isn’t even red. His skin color is somewhere at the “dark” end of the gray scale!

Some would see hell as being confined with a born again Christian.

Interesting reaction from your sister.

Those old black and white images may have felt like some kind of voodoo magic coming from a possessed box. Now we take all of our technology for granted and it barely registers in our minds anymore.

Sounds like she needs to be born yet again to escape her demons and Dante’s inferno.

Jack Palance would have been pretty cool. I’d have watched Bagdad Cafe with him.

I also tune into radio tref for reminders of flicks like this. I’m now on a mission to find it. Not easy but I will persevere.
