Every morning I
read a page from my
book of Positive
Tuba Affirmations.

“Nobody plays the tuba like you do.”
I say to myself.
“You are the greatest tuba player
in the history of the universe.”

Some time, though,
I don’t know why
I waste my time.
I don’t play the tuba.
And reading it just
makes me sad about
what I might have
been.

This reminds me so much of what had me so perplexed in high school. Over and over I would say “Tuba or not tuba? That is the question.” And then I would realize that my high school didn’t have a band. Yes, so sad about what could have been…

Understood. I almost feel like I may have once owned a record, as a child, titled Tubby the Tuba. I believe it was about a Tuba and his name was Tubby. Or, Francis.

This truth strikes a sad chord with me as a non-tuba player.
I’d need chocolate, or a happiness inducing equivalent, after reading (tuba) affirmations affirming what could have been.
