I used to keep
a mousetrap in
my jacket pocket
in order, to
catch pick-pockets.
***
Then one day
it went ‘snap!’
And I pulled out
the mouse-trap,
but, to my surprise,
it was not the
hand of a thief
I caught
***
but an actual mouse!
***
Then it occurred to me,
maybe, I shouldn’t have
left that piece of cheese
on it
.

(1) And the mouse exclaimed, “Oh, snap!”
(2) Did you hear what happened when the Trapp Family got together with the Addams Family? The former sang catchy songs, and the latter snapped its fingers.
(3) Did you hear about the golfer who put sand traps in all his pockets? He left a trail of sand on the fairway because he had a hole in one.
(4) I once had an angel in my pocket. When I zipped it up, I caught hell.
(5) I also once had a mousetrap in my back pants pocket. I knew I’d caught a mouse when I heard a tiny voice complain, “Who cut the cheese?!”

Thanks! I recall a sleep-over at my friends house and as soon as his parents said, “Light’s out!” he brought out two flashlights and we hid under the bed covers reading Mad magazines.

It was dark night, in 2018, when Mad magazine turned off it lights. The good news is that a company named DreamShield markets a light-up blanket. Ironically, it is only available in “daybed” size.

It was sad, but it was also time. Mad probably should have ended with the passing of William Gaines, or, at least, made a significant change, like going back to being a comic book. As far as a light up blanket — nope.

If you give a mouse a cookie then the outcome will be different.

He’ll then need some milk, no doubt, as well as a straw. Thanks, Pam!

Yes, a straw would prevent a mousestache.

Cheese is worth the risk to a lot of folks.
Perhaps you can train the little guy to keep the thieves away.

But one should always have a pack of gum and a piece of cheese on their person. Don’t deprive yourself! – Marty

“Would you like some Juicy Fruit?” has long been my opening line. And if they say no, I follow with, “well, how about some gorgonzola?” Thanks, marty

This is true. Best advice, Betsy, just forget the whole mousetrap in the pocket thing totally. Thanks, B

The mouse was only injured and has since repented, and joined the priesthood, so it’s all good. Thanks, SH
