      • :D It was Colours by Donovan (first two verses):

Yellow is the colour of my true love’s hair
In the mornin’, when we rise
In the mornin’, when we rise
That’s the time, that’s the time
        I love the best.

Blue is the colour of the sky
In the mornin’ when we rise
In the mornin’ when we rise
That’s the time, that’s the time
        I love the best

    • I recall going to the library with my mom and she took out a couple LP’s by Allan Sherman and Tom Lehrer. I played them almost to the point of completely memorizing them. My mom returned the LP’s and, I guess, that was the end of my Sherman/Lehrer fascination. But I looked it up and, lo! as of this writing, Lehrer is alive and well at age 95. Viva, Lehrer! Thanks, E Sum.

      • Your mom done you right, George. As a young buck in the late ’50s and early ’60s I collected the Tom Lehrer and Alan Sherman LP’s, also some Bob Newhart and Jonathan Winters LPs. Spent evenings with friends, rolling on the floor around the hifi. “Blue,” by Geo. Raymond, would go platinum on vinyl.
