Don’t blame them. I’ve seen plastic cutlery taped to pens for that reason, too.

You don’t have to tell me. I had so many friends over for a recent soirée I had to break out my good plastic cutlery taped to pens.

I keep my valuable pens in a piggy bank. They’re pig pens.

I used to tape plastic spoons to mine so students wouldn’t take them. Zenith then they took them anyway because it was cool to have a spoon pen.

Funny, because my post was inspired by all the flower pens at all the schools I have ever worked as a substitute teacher.

I once crowdfunded a photo and video-sharing social network site for stolen and lost pens – I called it Pentagram, and it only ever had interest from Satanists and Wiccans.

Haha! There are two pens from the past I still miss, the first is the bic banana pen from the 1970s. I don’t know why, I don’t recall it being such a great pen. I guess because it had banana in the title. The second was a cheap fountain pen from the 1980s. I insisted on doing all my homework (including math) with these pens, long discontinued, unfortunately. I just spent almost an hour trying to find them online, but no luck.

Yes, I remember the Bic Banana pens and they did colour ones too like crayons or felt. I found an old (TV) ad voiced by Mel Brooks for them: https://youtu.be/vgB-VQfUVYM
Now I have to check my archives to see if I have any Bic Banana pens adverts. I know I have a 70s Chiquita Banana walkie talkies ad – but that’s another story :)

Beautiful. Wow. What a great commercial, and it was followed by a libby land tv dinner ad. I loved libby land dinners! Banana pens and tv dinners. The 1970s were all right.

also – I just checked and saw a fair few banana pens on eBay in their original packaging.

Hey Vintage — I took your sage advice & as of to-night I’m now the proud owner of a still-in-the-package bic banana pen (.29 cents retail but a little bit more on e-bay)!
