My dad says his dad
took him to Disneyland
in the 1950s. But
when they got there,
they discovered that
Disneyland was still
just orange groves.
So they had to turn back.
***
Then, twenty years on,
my dad took me to
Disneyland. And again—
just orange groves.
So we turned back.
***
Now, though,
all these years later,
I’m beginning to think
my family may not
have the correct address
.
Keep circulating the URL
Haha! Quite probably! 🍊🍊🍊

How odd that I had a similar experience, Geo. My father and I made several trips to Atlantis, but the tide was always in.

These days you can get into a driverless vehicle and say “orange groves” and there you are. Thanks, M.

Thanks to three generations of Raymonds for making the Disney theme park in Anaheim a memorial to the orange groves of Southern California.

Back in 1854, for his 17th birthday, Grover Cleveland’s dad took him to Disneyland. Grover was inspired by the impressive figures in the Hall of Presidents. “Hey, pops, orange ya gonna help me become president one o’ these days..?”

My parents took me to a trash heap where we watched someone (I think it was an uncle) do card tricks. They said it was Magic Mountain.

I bet it didn’t smell much different from an actual Six Flags. Thanks, Crow!

Haha! Maybe the dads should’ve stopped to ask for proper directions. Happy New Year, George! :)

“Any road will get your there eventually” was my dad’s philosophy. Thanks, Nancy and a belated Happy New Year to you, too.

Your ancestors should have invested in those orange groves back in the day. I did not get to Disneyland until I was 40 years old and by then the lines for an orangeade stretched all the way to San Francisco.

I visited the Poconos for the first time with nine other members of my family. It was enjoyable but I came home with a nasty cold which has slowed down my response times to the point where WordPress has put me on probation.
