A new laundromat
opened on my block. And
I did my laundry the
day of the Grand Opening.
***
Later, my girlfriend
asked what I thought
of the laundromat.
And I blurted out, “Grand!”
***
But then I felt dumb
for using the same word
that was on the banner.
***
So I quickly added,
***
“Awe-inspiring.”

Love is
like a
river.
A terrible terrible river.
Hopefully that calmed your agitator and you enjoyed a tumble dry with your girl.
Thanks, Bruce!
You’re most welcome
Quick recovery 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thanks, Sadje!
Sometimes what we say gets washed out in the process.
Thanks, Pam!
I was going to write a comment, but I’m clean out of ideas.
Thanks, David!
You thought of another word and were not swimming against the Tide! :)
haha true! Thanks, MM
So bizarre. :P And I do appreciate a good you-staring-down-your-food pic!
I try my best! Thanks, Ilsa.
I had the EXACT same situation with my mother in law’s funeral.
Thanks, N
The title of this post is awe-inspiring.
Haha It is though. Thanks, Geoff
Hahaha! Good one! :D
Thank you, Carol anne!!
I am do glad it didn’t de-tergent from that.
Hah! Thanks, Janny!
The grand laundromat does thousand-dollar bills. The awe-inspiring one takes bitcoins.
It was what I imagined it was like to wash your clothes during the Gilded Age! Thanks, E Sum
The coal-fired industry of the Gilded Age was the mother of the invention of the electric washing machine, in sooty 1908, which made the grand opening of the first “Washateria,” in `1934, inevitable. The one that opened on your block in 2025 must indeed inspire awe. The glory days are here again in Trefurbia.
That’s one of the best comments about love I’ve seen in a LONG time!!
So, so, so, so, so terrible and so, so, so, so true! lol
That’s funny, the River bit was not supposed to be on the post. I added it a few days ago just to see how it looked and I neglected to remove it. Now I’m not certain what to do. It stays, I guess. Thanks, Seliza!
I THOUGHT it was out of place. But I didn’t care, in the end. It’s a great quote. It reminds me of the lyrics for Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire, falling in, the flames go higher, and it burns and burns. Same feeling. Same truth.
You’re lucky there was an opening 😎
I got there early in case there was refreshments served. Thanks, D.
That sounds grand 🍷😎
